90s Glasses for Women & Men
90s Glasses: Slim Frames and Four Iconic Retro Styles
90s glasses are small, low-profile frames: slim ovals, thin wire rims, rimless styles and narrow rectangles that took over from the oversized frames of the 1980s. Every pair here fits one of the four looks below. Try them on with Virtual Try-On, compare the frame width with a pair you already own, then add lenses on the product page.
What Makes Glasses Look 90s? The Aoolia 90s Mixtape
We don't call a frame '90s' because of a mood board. Each pair on this page has to match one of four tracks, and the rules are public so you can check them yourself. Use the ‘90s Look’ filter to play one track at a time.
How Small Should 90s Glasses Be? The Shrink Allowance
Small is the point of 90s glasses, but 'small' only means something next to a pair you already wear. Measure the frame width of glasses that fit you well, straight across from the outside of one hinge to the other, in millimeters. Then compare it with the frame width listed on each product page.
The 1994 Receipt: What 90s Glasses Cost Then
In April 1994, a Lawrence, Kansas, eyewear shop told the University Daily Kansan that ovals were the frame of the moment. Frames there ran $65 to $250, and metal frames averaged $125. Adjusted with the U.S. Consumer Price Index, that's about $146 to $563 today, with the average near $282. The 90s glasses on this page are listed from [$11.95] to [$99.95] for the frame; you choose lenses on the product page.
90s Glasses FAQ
What glasses were popular in the 90s?
Small frames: slim ovals, thin metal wire frames, rimless styles and narrow rectangles. Frames shrank after the oversized 1980s, and rimless designs such as Silhouette's Minimal Art (1992) and Titan Minimal Art (1999) made barely-there frames mainstream.
Are 90s glasses still in style?
Yes. Slim ovals, wire frames and rimless shapes now read as everyday glasses rather than a costume. A small frame also mixes with current clothes more easily than an oversized one.
Will 90s glasses look too small on my face?
Not if you stay within 10 mm of the frame width you already wear. Up to 4 mm narrower feels familiar, and 5 to 10 mm narrower gives the true 90s look. Beyond that, the temple arms tend to flare and press.
Are rimless glasses a 90s style?
Yes. Rimless frames became a signature late-90s look as lighter titanium designs arrived. On this page they sit in Track 3, together with half-rim frames that keep a rim on the top edge only.
What's the difference between 90s and Y2K glasses?
90s glasses are small and quiet: thin rims, ovals and narrow rectangles. Y2K glasses are shinier and more playful, with tinted lenses, shields and wraparound shapes. Narrow rectangles sit on the border between the two.
