Polarized Sunglasses Under $50: The $50 Line
Cheap is a number on this page, not a mood. A pair is listed here only when all three are true:1. The lens is polarized. We check the lens spec, not the product name.2. The everyday price for the pair as pictured, polarized lens included, is $49.95 or less. Flash-sale and coupon prices don't count, so the list doesn't change every weekend.3. At least one color is in stock. If a price moves above $49.95, that pair leaves this page and stays in our full polarized sunglasses collection. Pairs sitting just over the line are listed under the grid, so you can see what a few dollars more gets you.
The Door Price: What One Pair Costs Delivered
When you buy a single pair, shipping is part of what you pay. The Door Price adds standard shipping to the contiguous US for one pair, before sales tax, so you can compare pairs by the number that actually leaves your account.
Read the Lens Build Before the Pricen
Most cheap polarized lenses are built one way: a thin polarizing film sealed between layers of TAC (cellulose triacetate), a light, clear plastic. Others are polycarbonate with the film molded inside. Neither is automatically the cheap one. They wear differently, and the Lens Build line on each pair tells you which one you're getting.
Sizes Past One-Size
A lot of budget polarized sunglasses come in a single medium fit, roughly 138–142 mm (about 5.4–5.6 in) across the front. If that fits you, great. If medium pairs pinch or slide, take two numbers from sunglasses you already like: the lens width printed inside the temple (the first number in something like 53□18 140), and the hinge-to-hinge width measured with a ruler. Filter this page by size, compare those numbers on the product page, then use Try On to see the width on your own face.
Cheap Polarized Sunglasses: Questions
Are cheap polarized sunglasses actually polarized?
Not always, and price alone won't tell you. Every pair on this page is listed only after its lens spec shows a polarized lens. You can check any pair yourself in about a minute with a phone or laptop screen: here's how to tell if sunglasses are polarized.
Are cheap polarized sunglasses worth it?
If glare off water, wet roads or car hoods bothers you, the polarized layer is what handles it, and it doesn't have to cost much. What usually changes with price is the lens base, the coatings and the frame material, which is why each pair here shows its Lens Build. For when polarized lenses help and when they don't, read our guide to polarized sunglasses.
What's the difference between polarized and UV400?
They do two separate jobs. Polarization cuts reflected glare you can see. UV400 is a rating for filtering ultraviolet light up to 400 nm. A lens can have one without the other, so check both on the Lens Build line.
Why does my phone screen look dark through polarized lenses?
Many screens give off polarized light. At some angles the screen and the lens line up against each other and the display dims. Tilt your head or the phone and it comes back. That's the lens working, not a defect.
Can I get these with my Rx?
Many frames here can be made with Rx lenses in a polarized option. The lens price changes, so the product page shows your new total before checkout. The Door Price on this page covers non-Rx pairs.
