Anything at or under 20 g is genuinely light for a full-rim style; under 14 g usually means a rimless or thin metal build.Numbers in grams are hard to picture, so here is a reference that does not vary: a US quarter weighs exactly 5.670 g.

The Number Nobody Publishes: What the Pair Weighs Once the Lenses Are In,Frame weight is the industry standard figure, and it is also the flattering one. The pair you actually put on includes lenses, and in many builds the lenses weigh more than the frame does.That is why every card here carries a second line: as worn. It is the whole pair, weighed, across the lightest and heaviest lens options available for that frame. Where the Weight Sits Matters as Much as How Much There Is,Two frames of the same weight can sit very differently. It depends on how that weight is distributed between the front of the frame and the temple arms.Each card shows one of three labels:• nose-led — most of the weight is in the front. These sit firmly and move less, and the load is concentrated on the bridge.• temple-led — most of the weight is in the arms. These distribute along the sides of the head and often feel lighter than the number suggests.• even — front and arms are close to balanced.This is also why the lightest frame is not automatically the one that stays put. A very light nose-led frame with a shallow bridge can still shift; a slightly heavier temple-led frame with a spring hinge often does not. If a frame slides on you, the bridge width and the temple grip are the two things to change — not the gram count.
